STUDENT-LED STEM NIGHTThe Learning Commons facilitated a student leadership team in 2021 to develop our first student-led community STEM Night with 15 Minecraft-inspired stations exploring engineering, design, prototyping, physics, coding, chemistry, and mathematics!
Our stations for our 2022 STEM Night are inspired by 80s pop culture! |
TECH INTEGRATIONLessons with classes include best practices for maintaining 1:1 laptops; using PowerPoint "Rehearse with Coach" feature; information literacy incorporating the Cobb Digital Library with Noodletools and Gale integrations; designing scale model set designs using text evidence from a Shakespeare script; and creating music using Python coding language.

FACULTY REPRESENTATION1. The Library Media Specialist embedded with 7th grade in 2021 to help plan and execute the STEM PBL in dedicated sessions. The inclusion of the librarian was to help keep the focus for PBL both student-centered and student-driven.
2. In 2022, we led STEM-focused research lessons to help students develop background knowledge for their areas of interest in order to problem-solve. 3. We also participated in the Cobb STEM Academy workshops to bring back ideas to our faculty and presented a session on resources for middle schools as well. |
